In a final congratulatory post, I extend my commendation to Chris Weitz, the director of New Moon. While I can’t say I am happy about the film’s success, and would rather commiserate him for taking the job, he does deserve congratulations for supporting the alleged Birthday Pirate in Chicago. For those unfamiliar with the story, Samantha Tumpach accidentally captured images from the new movie in the theater while filming part of her sister’s surprise birthday party. It is clear that there was no intent to pirate the film, but Tumpach is facing felony charges and spent two days in jail after being arrested at the theater. This is simply more evidence of the twilight of common sense.
